We present the first names of the 17th edition of the Uprising Festival
New interesting names have started to appear in the Uprising 2024 festival program, which are guaranteed to please all fans of reggae, electronic, Balkan and experimental music. Names such as Alborosie, one of the best current reggae artists, the stars of the drum and bass scene Sigma and Black Sun Empire, or the energetic Balkan hit Dubioza Kolektiv will perform at Zlaté piesky on August 30-31, 2024. The Uprising festival, which is annually nominated among the best European festivals, will present almost 100 excellent bands and groups from all over the world on 7 music stages.
Bratislava’s Zlaté piesky should also prepare for a high-quality, star-studded music program this year, which the Uprising festival will offer for the seventeenth year in a row. One of today’s top reggae artists, Alborosie, appeared among the first announced artists. He has more than 10 studio albums, many evergreen hits, several Grammy nominations and musical collaborations with big names such as The Wailers, Steel Pulse, Gentleman, Kabaka Pyramid and Ky-Mani Marley. He will perform live together with his group Shengen Clan.
Dubioza Kolektiv will come to Uprising to release an energetic whirlwind of Balkan reggae-ska-punk and prove why they are among the most wanted groups in Europe. Reggae lovers can also look forward to other names, including the legendary roots reggae band The Congos, which boasts an original line-up from the 1970s, as well as Grammy-nominated Jesse Royal, also charismatic raggamuffin Solo Banton from Britain, or the charming singer Black Omolo. The meeting of 16 musicians on one stage, a project full of reggae, ska, dub, supported by a strong brass section performed by the Wicked Dub Division meets North East Ska Jazz Orchestra, will certainly be a musical treat.
This year there will also be a strong presence in the drum and bass and electronic genres, especially from the United Kingdom, where the artistic duo Sigma will visit Zlaté piesky for the first time. Their exceptional success is confirmed by more than 7 million CDs sold and performances on main stages around the world. Hits like Nobody To Love, Changing or Find Me made them a famous formation in the mainstream. Other announced names are the pioneers of a harder and darker face of drum & bass, the legendary project from the Netherlands Black Sun Empire, as well as an interesting musician from Britain and viral phenomenon Venjent, whose videos are definitely worth paying attention to. In addition, you can look forward to a musical gem in the form of the singer Catching Cairo, the British DJ and producer Vandal, or the cult electro-world music band Transglobal Underground, who will also be accompanied by their original singer Natacha Atlas at Uprising.
And that is far from all, and soon we will present other stars from the world of reggae, hip-hop, jazz, electronic music, and world music. Traditionally, visitors can also look forward to a strong representation of the domestic and Czech scenes.
